Chassis 009 was Emerson Fittipaldi’s spare car during the second half of the 1990 CART season. Its sister car sat on the pole at Indy and scored a number of victories. Young rookie Paul Tracy then raced chassis 009 at three events in 1991.
This car was the first real project taken on by Patrick and Mark during the winter of 2003. The chassis was built up at Penske Racing in the USA, the engine and electronics restored in a very cold hangar at Sywell before being flown over and installed at the Penske Race shop.
Chassis 009 runs regularly at events and has twice attended the Festival of Speed. Other than moving the rev limiter from 12,100 to 11,800rpm the car runs exactly as it did back in 1990.
